Inmate killed as barracks roof caves in

HYDERABAD:

A prisoner was killed and two others were injured when the roof of a barracks in Hyderabad’s Nara Jail caved in on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Ali Ahmed Maachi, 50, while his brother, Ali Murad Maachi, and another inmate, Asghar Ali, were injured. The prisoners were arrested for selling moonshine liquor on June 16. According to jail superintendent Imtiaz Shaikh, there were 43 under-trial prisoners in the barracks at the time of the incident.
