Trend alert: Rocking the solid-colour look this summer

After a long reign of prints, its time for the one-colour look to shine!

Entertainment Desk July 07, 2020

The year is 2020, and after a long reign of prints and excessive garbs, it’s finally time for solid coloured outfits to shine. They’re easy to carry, look pretty and timeless on just about anybody, work for casual to formal and are just a great investment for all seasons throughout the year!

The ‘one colour from top to bottom’ trend has appeared in more than one collection this year, and on more than one runway – even internationally! Quite literally the first step to colour blocking your outfits, it is no surprise that both trends have been seen excessively on top designers’ radar this year. Psst… Sabyasachi seems like the one to have ridden the wave as it formed and given it momentum – of course, the iconic designer is behind this trend!

Here’s an indefinite round up of some designers who are following suit.

Zara Shahjahan

Taking the leap into the trend with her Eid 2020 Ralli collection, Zara played around with bright favourites – from the kameez to the trousers to the dupattas all dyed the same eye-catching colours. Vivid orange, yellow, green and purple being the standouts, Zara made sure her collection does justice to this trend.

Ansab Jahangir

Ansab has been experimenting with this look for majority of this year, with Ayeza Khan as their muse for their latest collection AVIN dedicated solely to solid colours. Big collars, long sherwani-esque kameez, with flowing organza dupattas, the studio has kept their theme tied together tightly, and gorgeously so!

EGO

While not a high street designer, EGO is a retail shop that will pretty much have you hooked to trends. Not to be left behind, they’ve also released a number of ready-to-wear ensembles with the one-colour-fits-all ideology behind it.

Farah Talib Aziz

FTA is no stranger to delivering gorgeous statement joras that incorporate current trends to put you on the It List. Her summer 2020 collection titled AIA is just that – an ode to trend and tradition tied beautifully together. You will see bright yellows, deep purples, and eye catching blue, and trust us, nothing works better with this trend than these statement shades on the colour wheel.
