HEC invites applications for Thailand scholarship

Six-week refresher course will be held in June 2021

ISLAMABAD:

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has invited applications from students in the four provinces and Azad Jammu and Kashmir(AJK) for a post-graduate scholarship programme at the Chulabhorn Graduate Institute in Thailand for the academic year 2021.

The commission on Monday said that scholarships are being offered to study for a master's degree (18 years of education) in the fields of applied biological sciences including environmental health, environmental toxicology, and chemical sciences.

All awards will be made on academic merit, the potential of the candidate and the likely impact of their work on the development of Pakistan, it added. The scholarships are open to applicants from Pakistan and AJK who meet are under 30 years-of-age on October 30, 2020, hold a 16-years bachelors degree from a recognised institution with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of at least 3.00 in one of the following sciences: chemistry, biology, biological sciences, molecular biology, environmental sciences, medical sciences, medicine, medical technology, pharmacy or pharmaceutical sciences.

The students must also have had experience in scientific laboratory research apart from demonstrating proficiency in English preferably through one of the two recognised tests for language proficiency (TOEFL or IELTS). They must also provide a statement of purpose explaining their interests in the field of study.

The award is tenable for a six weeks refresher courses in June 2021 followed by the two years masters degree, subject to an annual review of the scholar's progress. The scholarship will cover the tuition fees and all other academic fees, airfare, accommodation, monthly stipend, book allowance, health insurance and other costs.
