HYDERABAD:

Almost a week after a woman’s body was found dumped on the road next to the Indus Highway in Jamshoro district, the police have arrested her husband and his brother for allegedly murdering her.

The brother of the slain woman, 24-year-old Wazeeran Chachar, claimed that he had seen the suspects striking his sister with sticks, hammers and stones. The post-mortem confirmed that she had been tortured. The deceased had also suffered severe head injuries.

The Jamshoro police registered an FIR on Saturday night on the complaint of Wazeeran’s father, Gul Muhammad Chachar. The FIR nominated her husband Ali Bakhsh Chachar and his two brothers, Kareem Baksh Chachar and Ghulam Qadir Chachar in the murder case.

According to Chachar SHO Rasool Bux Shaikh, Ali and Kareem have been arrested, while Ghulam remains at large. The police believe that Wazeeran, who had married Ali four years ago, had been killed on the pretext of honour.

The investigation to ascertain the motive behind the homicide is under way, with Jamshoro SSP Amjad Shaikh forming an inquiry committee led by DSP Farooq Lakher.
