HYDERABAD: A complete shutter-down strike is under way in rural Sindh on the call of the Awami Tehrik (AT) to protest against the remarks made by Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain against Sindhis. Shops and businesses in parts of Hyderabad district are closed. Markets in Qasimabad remained shut while AT members convened a rally in Nasim Nagar. They also demonstrated in Sukkur outside the press club. Protest rallies were also organised in Badin, Matli, Thatta, Sajawal, Shahpur Chakir and Tando Mohammad Khan. Hussain has since said that his comments were taken out of context.
