Heatwave to persist for two more days in Karachi

Karachi continues to experience extremely hot weather due to low atmospheric pressure present in the Arabian Sea

KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast that the current spell of heatwave in Karachi will likely continue for two more days, till Friday.

The city will witness a sultry day today (Wednesday) with the highest temperature reaching between 37 to 39 degrees Celsius.

Earlier, on Tuesday, southwestern winds remained suspended in Karachi while hot and humid winds from Balochistan hit the city in the morning. However, southwestern winds were restored by noon, blowing at 30 kilometres per hour, while the mercury shot up to 38 degrees Celsius.

According to the PMD, the highest temperature in the city was recorded at 38.2 degrees Celsius and lowest at 29.5 degrees Celsius with 57 per cent humidity in the atmosphere yesterday (Tuesday).

Karachi is continually experiencing extremely hot weather due to the effects of low atmospheric pressure present in the Arabian Sea.

Meanwhile, the temperature was recorded at 51 degrees Celsius in Jacobabad- the highest in Sindh on the day- 49.5 degrees Celsius in Dadu and Larkana, 48.5 in Mohen jo Daro, 48.5 in Nawabshah, 47 in Sukkur, 45 in Chorr, 43.2 in Hyderabad and 38.5 in Mirpurkhas.
