LAHORE: The Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) has successfully rolled-out its Learning Management System (LMS) this week.

Reportedly, the LMS has provisions of content delivery and assessment with integrated monitoring mechanisms. The Online LMS is accessible from home and the faculty, as well as students, may benefit from its responsive environment.

The IT directorate of the LCWU acquired and configured the LMS in a record time of fewer than two months.

The faculty and students of the university have also been provided with hands-on training on LMS by the IT team.

A total of 46 departments, more than 600 faculty members and 11,200 students would benefit from this LMS.

The LMS is available for online classes for more than 1,769 courses of BS, MA/MSc, MS/ M Phil and Ph.D. levels for both the campuses of the university in Lahore as well as Jhang.

In a statement, LCWU Vice-Chancellor Dr Bushra Mirza said that the university had been closed for a couple of months because of Covid-19. “So, all routine teaching activities were stopped and there was a risk that precious time of students would be lost due to closure of the university,” she said.

“Therefore, we quickly uploaded learning resource materials on our website, LCWU Web TV and online course directory to benefit students,” she added.  “At the same time, we have started working on online teaching and acquiring and configuring LMS,” continued Dr Mirza.
