The Environmental Protection Department (EPD) issued notices to 219 industrial units for violating the EPD rules. An EPD official said that the inspection revealed that industrial units were releasing waste water into the Hadyara Drain without treatment. He said that the waste water contained hazardous chemicals which were polluting the subsoil water.
