KARACHI: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) will install its database in union councils (UCs) to facilitate citizens in obtaining documentation easily, said Sindh local government secretary Roshan Ali Shaikh on Saturday.

Briefing about the initiative, he said a memorandum of understanding had been signed between the local government department and NADRA.

"NADRA will install their database link in UCs across Sindh so that people can receive their marriage, birth, death and other certificates," he stated, adding that it would speed up the process of transferring data from UCs to NADRA's central database as well while also helping reduce forgery in the issuance of certificates.

The new facility will initially cover up to 146 UCs in six districts, gradually spreading across the entire province.
