Ramazan in jails: Special arrangements for Punjab inmates

LAHORE:

Special arrangements have been made in all jails of the province to provide proper ‘Sahar’ and ‘Iftar’ to inmates during the holy month of Ramazan. This has been done on the instructions of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

Inspector General Prisons Kokab Nadeem Warraich told APP that nearly 55,237 under-trial prisoners and convicts in 30 jails across Punjab will observe fast during the month of Ramazan. Lectures on Islamic values will be delivered to the prisoners.

He said that divisional commissioners, DCOs, district and session judges, RPOs, CPOs and DPOs have also been requested to pay frequent surprise visits to check the arrangements and standard of food.

Warraich said that all the doctors posted in the jails have been directed to check the quality of food before it is served. He said that all range DIGs and superintendents of central headquarters jails have been directed to check quality of food during surprise visits and take stock of the arrangements.

it is the islamic lectures that have landed a lot of these guys in jail in the first place.a lot of the prisoners are in prison because they were brainwashed into religious extremism in the madrassas and jalsas.what these people need is ethics lectures.
