"I play tennis with Sania twice a week. I beat her at a mini-court recently," Malik said during an interaction with the media.
Malik, who developed interest in the game after his marriage to the Indian tennis star, said he was now aiming to defeat her in a match on a standard court.
He claimed that Sania's game had improved after their marriage. Malik said he was in India during the historic Pakistan-India Cricket World Cup semi-final but regretted not being able to watch it live.
"I did not have a visa for Mohali," he said.
He revealed that Sania was passionate about cricket and they supported their respective countries during Indo-Pak cricket matches.
About their marriage, the cricketer said both were happy. They are based out in Dubai but keep on visiting their native countries.
"We live in Dubai but keep visiting both India and Pakistan. The High Commissions of the two countries have been very cooperative in issuing us visas," Malik said.

Seriously, this is the only thing that Pakistani men believe, rather than beating orm aking other people lose, they compete with their wives in domestic affairs.............
wake up now, playing with your wife and boasting about defeating her............this man needs help and too sad on Sania who married this guy...........
Don't be that much harsh on writing the comments. And also don't talk about someones personal matters. People are from different countries and they had been marrying to each other, if He (Shoaib Malik) did so it is not a bad thing to do. As far as the news is concerned this is good thing to have enjoyment at home and also with the family for every one. So Shoaib keep it up and improve your tannis ranking.
@Amjad:
Shame on you for your silly, jingoistic, hate-filled thinking!
don,t play just tennis. she will beat him in every game.
May be Sania will beat him in cricket since he's not playing at all, how about that?
Nasty comments. The couple seem like good people trying to make a life for themselves, family and friends. Is that a crime?. Both India and Pakistan should welcome them with open arm afterall us pakistanis are Indians too..let's hear about gown many of you nasty comentators go and and enjoy the day with your spouses!
@xill-e-ilahi: "yes he does. indian visit visas (at least for pakistan nationals) are for specific cities – not the whole country."
And vice versa. The two governments are very committed to creating obstacles for each other. We the general masses pay the price not the bureaucrats or the celebrities. Ask a common Pakistani who's married to an Indian national. He/she will tell you the real story.
Shame really. A big shame on both of them.
This women deserved it. Why couldn't she married a nice Indian gentleman?
Malik was termed a termite by the team manager in his report. I hope he doesn't eat away his wife's tennis or whatever is left of it!
Would he allow Sania to learn Cricket? I am sure she will beat him even in Cricket.
What a 19th century husband who is proud to beat his wife and claim it to the world, when he is failing at his own game!
@sam: yes he does. indian visit visas (at least for pakistan nationals) are for specific cities - not the whole country.
Is this news (if you call it a news) "Tennis: Shoaib beats Sania at own game" worthy of posting? Waste of bandwidth, in my humble opinion.
Next we'll be reading where they went for shopping?
mmm...this is a news? I mean, come on!
Not getting chances in cricket doesn't mean he is not fit for Tennis. Best of luck skipper!
These 2 people have moved out to Dubai and live peacefully, there. They have right to be happy, their choice to marry was their personnel decision,we must all just leave them alone, yes shoieb must be more careful in what he says.sania for her limited talent, had a good run,and she should be happy and satisfied. For Indian girl ,and for Indian standard she achieved more than most girls in India, give her her due.The Indian attitude of over doing, overboard praise,i think undermined her,I do not know if she contributed in her under achieving or she was capable of only what she achieved.Live and enjoy your money and fame.Don't look back.Avoid mean folks on both side of the border.
@ Aadersh I think he waste a lot of time in Cricket ;) ...
Time for a new wife now that he is 'better" than her ?
@sam: Yes he does (maybe you are not aware of Indian visa rules)
Shoaib you should start Tennis now...
@The Only Normal Person Here.: I also do not agree with the heading. The heading should have been "Low Class Husband Brags about his Machoism." One does not defeat his wife in a private fun play and then announce it to the world, specially when the wife is a world-class tennis player. Notice the sophistication of his wife by refraining from commenting on an imbecile act.
Shoaib name was announced for Zimbabwe but he still has some corruption allegations. Shoaib overall is a great all rounder and batsmen.
I dont agree with the heading... It should have been Pakistan beats India.
Another wasted pakistani talent. We should just give citizenship to Malik. Think he has a better future here - make some IPL money, ads, movies etc!!
Who fixed this match?
Who cares about some washed up cricket player and an equally washed up tennis player. Their 10 minutes of fame are over. Let Shoaib Malik move to South India and keep ot of Pak news now. He has nothing to do with Pakistan now that his wife is Indian.
@sam:
actually yes... In India you need city-specific visas
@sam: Yes, If you go to India you need to have city-specific visa. You are only allowed in those cities listed on your visa.
“I did not have a visa for Mohali,” he said ... does he require a separate visa for mohali lol ?
Its good. Keep the game up off the court as well.
What a fail attempt to stay in the news. Shoaib you are done...all you have is the title of "Sania Mirza's husband"
Out of cricket..so he thought lets play & coach tennis at home
she may not want to depress her husband. Poor guy is not playing cricket anyway.
