Disha Patani trolled for calling out racism while endorcing fairness creams

The actor was slammed for hypocrisy, just like Priyanka Chopra

The United States is under fire as protests against the killing of an African-American man from Minneapolis, George Floyd, erupt across the country.

The video of the incident has rekindled the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement, which works against the violence and systemic racism against the community.

While the protests turned violent in major states, many celebrities across the world have also taken to social media to pledge their support. However, not all of them have played it safe:

After Priyanka Chopra was slammed for her selective activism, Bollywood actor Disha Patani has also come under fire for tweeting a poster that says, "All colours are beautiful."

Many responded to her tweet with her fairness cream ad, deeming it 'hypocritical' of the celebrity to endorse such a brand while also putting out statements celebrating all skin tones for the sake of protesting.

"The hypocrite who is endorsing a fairness cream for money is now saying all the colours are same," some remarked. Whereas others quipped, "Politician banjao madam, hypocrisy ki bhi koi seema hoti hai (Become a politician, madam. Even hypocrisy has its limits)."

People continued sharing the various times Patani had advertised for a fairer complexion. One user troller her saying, "First I will endorse face whitening products and then I will post against racism," while another joked, "Ye mahila apni disha bhool gae hain, (This woman has lost her 'Disha' way)."

Another user reminded the actor of how Muslims in her own country were facing similar discrimination. They said, "These celebrities cannot talk against fascism but will call out racism. They cannot see the pain of Muslims in India but they can see the pain of blacks in other countries."

Users had also schooled Chopra for not calling out the violence against Muslims in India but supporting the #BlackLivesMatter movement.

Nevertheless, many users continued to throw shade at Patani and even made memes to express the irony.
