Punjab seeks more ventilators from centre

LAHORE: A Punjab cabinet committee has decided to submit proposals to the federal government for allowing more sectors to resume their operations in accordance with safety measures against coronavirus.

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar presided over a meeting of the Cabinet Committee for Coronavirus Control which reviewed in detail the situation regarding the pandemic.

The participants presented their proposals for safety from coronavirus and agreed to send them to the federal government for opening different institutions in Punjab according to the SOPs devised in this regard.

Rs466m sanctioned for 168 new ventilators

The committee decided in principle to ensure implementation of the requirement to cover the face and nose at public places across the province.

The cabinet committee allowed Punjab Public Service Commission to conduct interviews of 1,000 lady doctors while following the SOPs. The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) will be informed about the decision. It was also decided that the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) will be approached for permission to produce ventilators and respirator.
