11 gunmen attack houses, police contingent

FAISALABAD: At least 11 assailants opened fire at a police team on Friday in Bahlak area and manage to flee from the the crime scene.

Police said Bahlak SHO received a complaint that several gunmen attacked the houses of Iqbal Meher Khan and Yusuf in Chak No 609GB.

The SHO reached the spot with a contingent to arrest the accused persons. When asked to surrender, the attackers opened fire on the police party and fled the scene. Police collected evidence including bullet cases from the spot and registered a case against the gunmen.

SHO Inspector Muhammad Anwar said police have taken 15 bullet casings of a 12-bore gun and 20 shells of a 30-bore pistol into their custody.

A search is underway to arrest those involved in the incident.
