LAHORE: An encounter at the hands of CIA Model Town police on Monday raised the number of such incidents during the ongoing year to five.

The police claimed that they were escorting a suspected robber for arresting his accomplices on Kacha Road in Kahna when, they resorted to firing. Resultantly, the suspect, identified as Waqas alias Aali, was hit by bullets fired by his accomplices.

One of the attackers, identified as Ramzan alias Qaidu, was also killed due to firing by his accomplices, while the police van was severely damaged. However, all members of the police team remained unhurt.

Police claimed that three accomplices of the suspects managed to flee. They had been involved in over 100 robbery cases, the police added.

After failure to control the unabated looting spree of robbers, Lahore police seem to be setting a record of suspected extrajudicial killings and fake encounters.

CIA investigations police have been involved in all the five encounters reported this year and a ‘formula story’ is presented in which officials escorting a suspected criminal are attacked by his accomplices in an attempt to free the accused him from police custody.

The suspects in custody suffer injuries from bullets fired by the accomplices while the police remain unhurt.
