‘Field teams’ role pivotal to counter locusts attack’

Farmers told to cooperate with the surveillance and combat operation teams

MIANWALI: Deputy Commissioner Omar Sher Chattah has said field operation and surveillance teams need to work diligently to end locusts attack which has become a national issue. He expressed these views during his inspection visit in an ongoing operation for anti- locust started by agricultural and other institutions in the areas of Dhaba Karsial and Dhranga, Mianwali district.

The DC highlighted that till the complete eradication of locusts, the surveillance and combat operation must be continued adding that for the purpose the district administration will provide all-out resources.

Speaking to the locals on the occasion, the deputy commissioner said that the provincial government was utilising every possible resource for eradicating the locust and prevention of crops on a priority basis.

“In this regard, the farmers should cooperate with the surveillance and combat operation teams.”

He directed the agricultural officers along with the farmers that they should make sure to plough in fields where locust operation had been completed so as the eggs of locust could be eradicated.
