Man, son killed over property dispute

Jabbar was allegedly attacked by brothers who quarreled with him over family wealth

FAISALABAD: A man along with his son, was killed in a dispute over property division while another man was injured due to firing on Friday.

Details obtained by The Express Tribune revealed, that 55-year-old Abdul Jabbar, a resident of Chak No 54 GB, was having a property division dispute with his brothers Abdul Sattar and Akram.

Due to the dispute, accused Ghulam Rasool and Akram quarreled with Abdul Jabbar, his son Abrar and his nephew Ali Akhtar alias Vicky. On the day of the incident, the victims were on their way to Dera from their house when the accused opened fire on them.

Abdul Jabbar died on the spot while Abrar and Ali were rushed to Jaranwala hospital in a critical condition, where Abrar succumbed to his injuries.

Saddar Jaranwala police took the bodies of Abdul Jabbar and his son Abrar into their custody and handed them to their heirs after postmortem. On the statement of the deceased’s widow, Irshad Akhtar, police registered a case against seven people including Mohammad Ikram, Mohammad Sadiq, Tariq, Usman, Ashique, Arshad and Asad under the provisions of double murder and attempted murder and raids were launched for their arrest.
