Hungry and angry: Daughter-in-law killed for not serving breakfast

SUKKUR:

A man killed his daughter-in-law because she did not serve him breakfast when he demanded it, in Kouro Leghari village in Ghotki district.

On Monday morning, Farzana, 20, wife of Akhtar Leghari, had gone to a field to bring fodder for the buffalo. As soon as she came back home, her father-in-law, Ali Hassan Leghari, asked her to prepare breakfast. “I will first give fodder to the buffalo and then prepare breakfast for you,” Farzana replied. This enraged her father-in-law, he went inside the house and came out with a gun. He shot her, killing her on the spot, and then fled.

“Like most rural women, Farzana used to bring fodder for the buffalo, then milk it and then prepare breakfast for the family,” said Farzana’s mother, Mai Bachi. “She used to help her husband in the fields, then come home and prepare lunch and return to the fields to give lunch to her husband and father-in-law.”

She said that her daughter was killed without justification and thus the family has demanded justice.

Dad Leghari police took the body to Mirpur Mathelo’s civil hospital, but no case was registered till the filing of this report.
