IMC prepared to tackle Covid-19, says Mayor

Aziz calls for observing social distancing to avoid the virus

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation (IMC) Mayor Sheikh Anser Aziz on Monday urged residents of the federal capital to exercise all precautionary measures to keep themselves safe from the novel coronavirus (Covid-19).

In a message issued on Monday, the mayor said that the best way to avoid the disease is to stay at home and avoid meeting people unnecessarily.

He further said that the Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation (IMC) has taken all possible measures to keep residents safe and has collaborated with the district administration in this regard.

This, he claimed, had helped soften the impact of the virus in the city.

Aziz said the virus is an extraordinary phenomenon and therefore needs extraordinary steps to contain it.

He further added that the battle against this deadly disease can only be fought with the help of people therefore citizens are requested to help the IMC and other relevant departments contain this virus.

The mayor further advised residents to regularly wash their hands, use sanitizers and maintain social distancing.

He expressed the hope that people will listen and heed to his plea to follow the guidelines for preventing spread of the virus.
