23,882 FIRs registered on lockdown violation

Action was taken against 4,162 shops and 238 restaurants over violation of lockdown

LAHORE: Punjab Police, since March 16, registered 23,882 FIRs in violation against Section 144 and arrested 22,108 citizens across the province.  According to details, police claimed to have established 966 pickets where 224,730 vehicles and 529,635 motorcycles were checked throughout the province.

On these police pickets, around 1,083,843 citizens were checked of whom 667,589 had been released on warning. Security bonds had been taken from 45,203 citizens whereas 25,302 citizens were released on bail.

Action was taken against 4,162 shops and 238 restaurants over violation of lockdown rules. Similarly, 837 cases had been registered against hoarding and legal action was taken against 1,339 accused while 937 accused were arrested and 402 others released on bail.

In this regard, 762,150 kg of wheat, 337,765 kg of sugar, 250,801 of masks, 999 sanitisers, 28 medical equipment and 153,572 other food items were seized from the hoarders.
