Cases of robberies, murders rampant even amid lockdown

LAHORE: A man has been reportedly shot dead outside an automated teller machine (ATM) in Faisal Town.

The victim has been identified as Khalid Asif. During the lockdown, every other day an incident of robbery involving violence, murder, or injury is being reported in the city.

Asif’s son Bisam Khalid, in his complaint before police, said that he along with his father at midnight in a car had visited an ATM in Faisal Town near Akbar Chowk to withdraw cash.

He stated that when his father returned from ATM and was about to sit in his car, two motorcyclists tried to rob him. When Asif resisted, the suspects shot him.

As a result, he sustained two bullet injuries while the suspects fled from the scene.

After receiving information, a police team reached the spot and collected forensic evidence from the crime scene. They also recorded statements of the eye-witnesses. SSP Operations Faisal Shahzad also visited the crime scene. Police said they have been searching for the suspects.

Few hours before the incident, a man in Sabzazar was also reportedly shot dead over resistance during a robbery.

The victim was identified as Zaheer Abbass. He was riding a rickshaw with his family members when suddenly, in Marghazar Colony, unidentified suspects intercepted him, tried to rob him and shot him dead.
