RAWALPINDI: The representative body of bread makers, Naanbai Association, has called for the government to waive off utility bills for tandoors and take action against the mill owners for arbitrarily increasing flour prices.

The Naanbai Association President Muhammad Shafique Qureshi, General Secretary Khursheed Qureshi, and other office-bearers held a meeting on Thursday to review the problems being faced by the people associated with the business amid the lockdown.

The participants hailed the government for carrying out an action against the sugar mafia and demanded to launch an operation against the flour mill owners as well.

They added that the mill owners had arbitrarily increased the flour prices while they reduced the weight of a flour bag to maximise profit.

The Naanbai Association representatives appealed to Prime Minister Imran Khan to announce a waiver in electricity and gas bills for the tandoors.

The participants contended that their sales had slumped owing to the closure of restaurants and markets due to the lockdown enforced to curb the spread of the pandemic virus.

Owing to this condition, they said the tandoor owners were facing difficulties to pay their utility bills.
