KARACHI: A man, from a group of three suspected offenders, was killed and another injured during an alleged police encounter in Khuda Ki Basti, in the limits of Gulshan-e-Maymar police station, on Tuesday.

According to Gulshan-e-Maymar SHO inspector Shahid Hussain, the incident took place when he, along with a police party, was patrolling the area and flagged down three suspicious men on a motorcycle.

However, instead of pulling over, the men opened fire on police, as a result of which police constable Majboor Ali was shot in the leg, he said, adding that police then chased them and one among them was killed  and another injured in retaliatory firing. Leaving the body behind, the other two suspects fled.

No belongings revealing the deceased’s identity were found in his possession.
