Cleaning Up: Health dept plans for waste disposal

Hospitals in the city to submit plans on creating a waste management and infectious disease control department.

KARACHI:


The health department has told all teaching hospitals in the city to submit plans and how much it would cost for them to create a waste management and infectious disease control department.


So far, the project has lined up a ‘Health Management Information System’ at the Liaquat University Hospital, Jamshoro, the Chandka Medical College Hospital, Larkana, the Peoples Medical College Hospital, Nawabshah, the Lyari General Hospital, Karachi and the Sindh Government Qatar Hospital, Karachi.

Next in line is a 50-bed medical and surgical Intensive Care Unit and the expansion of the casualty and out-patient departments at the Chandka Medical College Hospital , Larkana.

August 8 is the deadline for all drafts of the plans as August 15 is the deadline to include them in the Annual Development Programme 2011-12.
