SARGODHA:

A man was caught and beaten for trying to rape a six-year-old hospital patient on Friday afternoon.

According to police officials, the DHQ hospital staff and the child’s family got hold of 20-year-old Akram and beat him severely before handing him over to police officials.

Eyewitnesses said that they had seen Akram taking Nimra, 6, from the children’s ward to the washroom. “He was posing as a ward but I didn’t recognize him and I have been working here for years.

That is when I followed him,” said a nurse at the hospital.

The nurse said that she then alerted other hospital staff and they found Akram trying to force himself on the girl in the washroom.

Nimra’s father said that he was grateful to the hospital staff for spotting the intruder in time and helping rescue his daughter.

The accused has been handed over to the police. Upon investigation, hospital officials said that Akram was not part of hospital staff but had been frequenting the hospital for the past two days and was posing as a ward.

He seized Nimra from the children’s ward, where she had been admitted after she was suffering from pneumonia. Police officials have registered a case.
