DEOs told to ensure precautions against coronavirus

PESHAWAR: With educational institutions in the province closed until May 31 owing to the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, the provincial education department on Sunday said that they have planned to hold board examinations in the first week of June this year.

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Elementary and Secondary Education Department (ESED) officials said this while briefing Chief Minister Mahmood Khan on Sunday.

The chief minister was informed that all district education officers have been issued instructions to take requisite measures to ensure social distancing and other preventive measures during the exams.

Regarding the reduction in private schools fees, the chief minister was informed that private schools have agreed to offer 20 per cent concession to students who pay a monthly fee of Rs6,000 or more and 10 per cent relief to students who pay less than Rs6,000 monthly. Moreover, students will be able to pay fees for April and May separately, and will not make a lump sum, advanced payments.

CM Mahmood directed officials to ensure transparency in the postings of teachers by following the predefined formula of the e-transfer policy. Moreover, he directed to deliver textbooks to those students who have been promoted to the next grades after clearing their annual examinations so that they may not waste this time.
