ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Police has suspended three officers on charges of corruption, a police spokesperson said on Friday.

Industrial-Area SP Zubair Ahmed Shaikh has suspended the three policemen while a show-cause notice was issued to the Sabzi Mandi police station SHO for poor performance, the official added.

He further said that they had received complaints regarding corruption against three officers deployed at a CDA police picket.

Operations DIG Waqaruddin Syed issued orders to suspend the three cops and conduct an inquiry against these officers. SP Shaikh has been tasked with conducting the inquiry, based on which further action will be taken against them.

DIG Syed said Islamabad Police is pursuing a policy of zero-tolerance against corruption and has started an accountability system to monitor the performance of police officials.

Moreover, disciplinary action is being taken against those found to be derelict of their duties, negligence, poor investigation, absence and involvement in corruption.
