KARACHI: A man opened fire on his relatives, killing two and injuring three others, including his mother, in Pirabad on Saturday.

Raj Muhammad Khan had reportedly been engaged in a property dispute with his mother, Dilshad Begum, and his younger brothers for at least a year, claiming he was being refused his share.

On the day of the incident, Khan had a quarrel over a domestic issue with the wife of one of his younger brothers. The quarrel intensified when Khan’s brothers and mother intervened and he opened fire on them.

As a result, Begum and four of her sons, Ghulam Muhammad, Saeed, Shaukat and Taj Muhammad, were injured. Meanwhile, Khan fled the scene. The sounds of the gunshots caught the attention of neighbours, who rushed the injured to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. However, Ghulam and Saeed succumbed to their injuries on the way to the hospital. Their bodies were handed over to the family after medico-legal formalities.

Pirabad DSP Safdar Shah revealed that Khan and his brothers were construction contractors who lived in the same house with their mother. The dispute had begun after Khan’s father died and he wanted to sell their shared house, he said.
