Man arrested for assaulting cop in Swat

SWAT: The nephew of a ruling party lawmaker was arrested in Swat on Friday after a video went viral showing him beat up and tear the uniform of a police officer.

A local police officer told the media that he was standing at a checkpoint in the district as per his assigned duty when Gran Bacha, the nephew of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MPA Fazal Hakeem Khan, approached in a vehicle along with an armed guard.

Officers at the checkpoint motioned for the vehicle to stop owing to a lockdown in the district. Despite several signals, the vehicle did not stop.

The vehicle finally stopped after crossing the checkpoint and Bacha disembarked from the vehicle.

The police officer said that Bacha approached Constable Laique Khan and other officers deputed at the checkpoint and asked why did they try to stop him and started thrashing the constable.
