QUETTA: A divisional bench of Balochistan High Court on Friday summoned all departments taking part in operations against the coronavirus pandemic in the province and sought a detailed report of facilities and equipment provided to doctors, paramedics, nurses and Provincial Disaster Management Authority staff against COVID 19.

Hearing a petition filed by Advocate Raja Rab Nawaz, the BHC also called for a comprehensive report from the local administration and the attorney general pertaining to the implementation of lockdown in urban areas apart from precautionary measures at Taftan and Chaman borders.

The court summoned all the departments taking part in field operations of coronavirus, asking for reports of facilities including testing kits, thermal guns, facilities for patients, availability of ventilators and measures being taken by the provincial government for preventing the spread of the fatal virus in Balochistan.

However, following the directions of Balochistan High Court chief justice, the court will also hear a petition regarding safety measures taken by the home department and Inspector General Prisons in provincial prisons.

The court also summoned National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officials pertaining to a petition regarding the safety of prisons incarcerated in NAB custody.

The Chief Justice of Balochistan High Court Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail also constituted a three member divisional bench which would hear numerous petitions on March 30.
