‘Gangster’ ordered to cooperate

According to the police, Rehman was nominated in 17 cases, including murder, attempted murder and other crimes

KARACHI: A local court directed on Wednesday Shahid Rehman, a member of the banned Peoples Aman Committee, to cooperate with the authorities and record his statement.

The court extended the bail of the accused until March 30.

According to the police, Rehman was nominated in 17 cases, including murder, attempted murder and other crimes. He had been on the run for several years before obtaining pre-arrest bail.

Rehman was allegedly a close aide of notorious Lyari gangster Uzair Baloch.

Hearing adjourned

An accountability court on Wednesday adjourned the hearing of a Rs5.76 billion corruption reference against Sharjeel Inam Memon and co-accused till April 22 without any proceedings.

Memon’s counsel submitted an application seeking an exemption for his appearance before the court. The application stated that Memon had been appointed as a coordinator for Hyderabad on the issue of coronavirus, and asked that he be exempted from appearing before the court.
