Victim posted inappropriate comments about killer’s sister on social media

FAISALABAD: A rickshaw driver who had posted inappropriate comments on social media about a woman was shot dead by her brother and an accomplice in a market on Tuesday.

Police have arrested both the accused and seized weapons from them.

Reportedly, Naveed Ahmed, brother of 32-year-old rickshaw driver Shakeel, son of Akram, resident of Chak 122, had eloped with a relative’s daughter and married her.

The family of the girl could not find the couple, but the brother of Naveed posted comments on social media about her.

The girl’s brother Zeshan alias Shani, accompanied by his friend Sheheryar, opened fire on the Shakeel at Haq Bahuo Chowk on Jamia Chishtia Road in broad daylight, due to which he succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

Police took the body into custody after arresting the accused Zeshan and Sheheryar.

A large number of citizens were present when the incident took place.

Sargodha Road Police Station SHO Inspector Mian Zahid Pehalwan said Zeshan had stated that he had killed Shakeel because of his immoral comments on social media.

Police said that the accused and deceased were related to each other.
