Infidelity is the deal-breaker: Deepika Padukone

The actor maintains that she has never strayed in a relationship

Bollywood bombshell Deepika Padukone's personal life wasn't always as perfect as it is today. In fact, before she and Ranveer Singh were giving couple goals, right , left and centre, the Padmavat star's love life was in shambles.

Back when she was on her way of cementing herself as the leading lady of Bollywood, Padukone had a highly publicised and turbulent relationship with heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor.

In a recent interview, Padukone opened up about a past relationship wherein she had to bear the infidelity of her significant other, reported Hindustan Times. "For me, sex is not just about physicality; there are emotions involved. I have never cheated or strayed when I'm in a relationship. If I'm going to be fooling around, why would I be in a relationship? It's better to be single and have fun. But not everyone thinks like that," she was quoted as saying.

While not alluding to Kapoor or anyone else specifically, Padukone went on to talk about how she eventually led her to part ways from the relationship. "Maybe that's why I've been hurt in the past. I was foolish enough to give him a second chance because he begged and pleaded, despite the fact that everyone around me said he was still straying. Then I actually caught him red-handed. It took me a while to get out. But having done that, nothing can make me go back. That ship has sailed," she said.

Furthermore, the Chhapaak star has asserted that cheating in a relationship is the ultimate deal breaker for her. "The first time he cheated on me, I thought there was something wrong with the relationship, or me. But when someone makes a habit of it, you know the problem lies with him. I give a lot in relationships, and don't really expect much in return. But, infidelity is the deal breaker. Once it comes in, respect goes away, trust goes away and these are the pillars of a relationship you can't f*ck around with it," she noted.

Padukone and Kapoor were in a relationship for two years before they finally decided to part ways. Both have moved on since then with Padukone getting married to Singh back in 2018 and Kapoor set to tie the knot with Alia Bhatt later this year.

The Rockstar actor and Bhatt over a month ago had started sending save the dates for their wedding set to take place in December this year.

Additionally the two seem to have gone pass their animosity for each other, if there was any to begin with. The two have starred opposite one another in Yeh Jawani hai Deewani and Tamasha since after their break up. Aside from that , Padukone appears to be on really good terms with Kapoor's fiance Bhatt. Just a few months ago , Padukone had accidentally revealed on a talk show that Bhatt was getting married.
