Murder accused commits suicide

SAHIWAL: A murder accused has shot himself dead in the backyard of the Farid Town police station after escaping from olice custody.

District Police Officer Mohammad Ali Zia has suspended six police personnel and formed an inquiry committee under the supervision of two DSPs.

Accused N* was detained for investigation in a murder case of two brothers and had been in police custody for a month.

N* was kept in a separate room instead of a lock-up. In the afternoon, an unidentified person reportedly came to meet him and gave a pistol to him.

The deceased belonged to Pakpattan district and was the father of eight children. CCTV footage showed that the accused escaped from the police station and police chased him.

The accused shot himself and passed away immediately.

Two months ago, Chak 99-6R’s Nambardar Basharat and his brother Mubarak were killed.

N* was investigated by police in the incident. Police investigated the case and registered a case against him.
