KARACHI: The Karachi Bar Association (KBA) and the Malir District Bar Association have announced a combined strike on Monday July 25 (today). This is being done in protest against the murder of their colleague, Mukhtar Abbas Bukhari, who was shot dead on his way from the city courts, in Bohrapir on Saturday. “Bukhari had been receiving death threats from unidentified people,” said KBA honourary secretary Syed Haider Imam Rizvi while talking to The Express Tribune. Rizvi added that Abbas had informed the KBA about the threats. “The KBA wrote a letter to the CCPO Karachi last month but no action was taken,” he said. As a result of the strike, court work will remain suspended on Monday. An emergency general body meeting will be organised by the two associations to discuss security concerns and threats to lawyers in the city.
