ATC acquits two men in Chaudhry Aslam murder case

The court announced the verdict while hearing the case at the Karachi Central Jail

KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) acquitted on Wednesday two men in the Chaudhry Aslam murder case, due to lack of evidence.

The court announced the verdict while hearing the case at the Karachi Central Jail.

According to the police, the accused, identified as Zafar alias Saeen and Abeed, were members of banned outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, and carried out reconnaissance for the attack.

Crime Investigation Department SP Aslam and two other officers were killed in a suicide bombing on the Lyari Expressway on January 9, 2014.

Naqeebullah murder case

Another ATC ordered the investigation police to submit the case property of the Naqeebullah murder case at the next hearing.

Jail officials presented the accused, including former Malir SSP Rao Anwar and others before the court, while the investigation police failed to present the case property.

The court adjourned the hearing till March 5 and ordered the police to submit the case property on the next hearing.
