Historic Sibi festival concludes on a high note

People from all walks of life attend five-day fiesta; PA deputy speaker lauds organisers

QUETTA: The five-day cultural festival in Sibi concluded here on Sunday after witnessing a large turnout from visitors. Scores of people from all walks of life, including celebrities and guests from all over the country attended the much anticipated event. Various departments affiliated with the government had set up their stalls on the occasion.

Literature, traditional embroidery and agriculture stalls garnered much attention during the festival that also opened new avenues of opportunities for farmers and industrialists.

National Highways and Motorway police also established an awareness camp during the event and guided participants about safety measures during travelling.

Terming the festival of immense significance and importance, Deputy Speaker of Balochistan Assembly Sardar Babar Khan Musakhel said the mega event is the largest public gathering in Balochistan which will also be helpful in promoting and developing different sectors, including livestock and agriculture.

"All the organisers, including the Sibi Deputy Commissioner deserve appreciation for holding the successful event," said Musakhel while addressing the closing ceremony at Chakar Khan Domki Stadium in Sibi.

“Since childhood I have heard a lot about Sibi festival. Our history and culture are being presented to the children [through the annual affair],” he said, adding that it is his duty to promote the festival and raise awareness among the people to pay a visit every year.

“People from all over Pakistan should attend this festival,” he said.

Musakhel also said the federal government was playing its role in the development of the province along with improving the basic infrastructure here.

Earlier, the provincial assembly deputy speaker reached Sibi by road and was welcomed at the toll plaza by Sibi commissioner.

During the event, school children performed on national songs amid applauses from the audience.

Flags of Pakistan and Kashmir were also hoisted as local artists performed on the stage.

Cattle parade, motorcycle jump, horse dance were some of the other activities made part of the ceremony.

Meanwhile, MusaKhel - who was also the chief guest - distributed prizes among the participants of Sibi festival. He also visited different stalls and agriculture-industrial exhibition.
