Ever since she kick started her career, American-Palestinian model Gigi Hadid has been soaring high on success.

The 24-year-old is seen on many high-end fashion magazines (who could forget her iconic Vogue Arabia cover?) and has walked the ramp for almost every noteworthy international designer durng her time in the industry.

In an interview with i-D Magazine, Hadid  said that the industry did not make it easy for her during the initial stages of her career, all because she was the daughter of a famous model, Yolanda Hadid.

It was back in 2015 that Gigi Hadid featured in her very first runway show in which she was cast by Jean Paul Gaultier. Recalling her experience, the model said she was coming out of high school and endured some criticism.

Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik are officially back together

"At the time I was still starting out in my career, I was coming out of high school, I still had my volleyball body. It was a body that I loved. I knew how hard I worked to have those muscles, to be curved in those places – I kind of miss it now. At the time, people were hard on me and tried to say that I didn’t have a runway body," the star told the magazine.

Hadid, who is in an on-off again relationship with Zayn Malik, further mentioned that because of the criticism, she did not get the jobs she wanted.

While some stylists and designers did give her opportunities, they would always try to cover her body and it was Gaultier who accepted her for who she was. For a young girl, the validation and support meant a lot.

As for the future, Hadid says she plans to do other things in life than fashion, including start a family.

"One day I’ll start a family and I don’t know if I will always be modelling. I love the creative side of fashion, it’s so fulfilling. The people I work with make me so happy, I’m so lucky to be around them. But who knows? Maybe I’ll take up full time cooking!"
