Minister says present state of education deplorable

No one will be allowed to play with future of children, Yar Muhammad Rind tells officials

QUETTA: Dissatisfied with the present state of education in the province, Balochistan Education Minister Yar Mohammad Rind has said no one will be allowed to play with the future of our children.

“Immediate steps are needed for improving and transforming the education sector. The current situation of education in the province is deplorable,” Rind said while talking to Secretary Secondary Education Ghulam Ali Baloch and Secretary Colleges and Higher Education Mohammad Hashim Ghilzai.

The meeting was called to discuss situation of education in the province. It deliberated on use of available resources and removal of obstacles for educational development in the province.

Additional secretaries and deputy secretaries of both departments were also present on the occasion.

Speaking in the occasion, the minister said funds should be properly utilized to bring about improvement in the existing institutions.

“A comprehensive strategy is being developed to improve the secondary and higher education sectors in the province. Schools and colleges would be set up in remote areas of the province,” he said.

He said in order to increase literacy rate in the province, it is necessary to promote teamwork. “Mutual cooperation and coordination can allow education system to move in the right direction.”

The minister also expressed his vision for education in Balochistan.

He said teachers, public representatives and social workers should be aware of the flaws of the educational system in their respective areas.

Rind said problems of teachers and obstacles to development of educational institutions will be removed. "Providing facilities to educational institutions is our top priority. Provision of all teaching aids, including modern scientific equipment, will be ensured in schools and colleges.”

The secretary secondary education and secretary colleges told the minister about the current situation and available resources in the province. Rind instructed the secretaries to formulate their own proposals for promotion of education in the province.
