Faran thrives in the banking industry and currently works with Allied Bank within their corporate finance team. As a couple - Fiza and Faran are a true example of “opposites attract”. Being poles apart professionally and personally they bring the perfect balance and harmony to each other’s life. Fiza and Faran share with us their story of love and friendship.

How and where did you both first meet?

Fiza: Back in 2003! LUMS first day, first show.

Faran: We became friends during orientation week of LUMS- so 16 years ago!

What did you like/ dislike about each other in your first meeting?

Fiza: For me, I saw Faran for the first time when he was playing volleyball. Little did the man know that his future wife had spotted him right there. Even when we became friends there were more things that I liked about him than disliked.

Faran: We clicked immediately from our first meeting, there was some exam the next day and we studied throughout the night. It was the two of us and another friend Adeel (still our best friend), the three of us were inseparable from day one at LUMS.

How long did it take to decide that he/she was the one you wanted to marry?

Fiza: To be honest, for me it was love at first sight kind of weirdness . All my friends still laugh about my “ting ting”- the feeling I had from day one that I wanted to marry this guy!

Faran: We were friends for years before the seriousness in our relationship came in. It was like deciding to marry your best friend!

How do you demonstrate your love in different ways?

Fiza: Faran and I are 180 degrees apart when it comes to our personalities. While I am super expressive and never miss a chance to express my feelings out loud, Faran has his subtle ways of telling me how much I mean to him.

Faran: We love each other and it’s just there- I don’t feel the need to demonstrate that love again and again. It’s always there!

What frustrates you most about your partner?

Fiza: Well since we are poles apart as people, our differences are the best thing about our relationship because Faran is everything I am not and vice versa. However at times it gets frustrating too. I must say those times are rare (fingers crossed).

Faran: Her stubbornness.

Who makes up first if you have a fight or argument?

Fiza: Me! I don’t think Faran has ever said sorry but then again he doesn’t end up in situations that require a “sorry” often.

Faran: When in disagreement, I choose to stay quiet. That helps not pushing to the next stage of fighting! Often works but if not, then sleeping over it is always better than saying sorry.

One thing you love about each other?

Fiza: The fact that he brings calmness, peace and balance in my life. I would otherwise drive myself crazy with the madness in me but Faran strikes the perfect balance with sensibility and logic! Also his trust and belief in me makes me the woman I am today.

Faran: Her energy, her passion for life, and her confidence- the way she shines up a dull room just by being there!

Something you would want to change about your partner?

Fiza: Definitely reduce the time he spends in the bathroom.

Faran: Her consistent planning! It would be nice at times to not have a plan…to just sit there and “do nothing”.

Something you two have in common?

Fiza: Loving our daily workouts and then binging like there is no tomorrow!

Faran: Our beautiful baby daughter - Erina!

Who keeps the room the tidiest?

Fiza: Definitely me! When I travel and come back after a week, everything is exactly where I left it. Don’t know if that is a good thing or not though!

Faran: Well that would not be me.

Your best memory together so far?

Fiza: Hmm..we have nearly two  decades of memories. There is not just one, but many memories while travelling together.

Faran: Far too many to mention here but I feel now with Erina, we are making new memories that will surpass all the previous ones by far!

Your greatest strength as a couple?

Fiza: The trust that binds us together!

Faran: That we are perfect opposites- completing each other in many ways.

Describe your relationship in three words?

Fiza: Fulfilling, enabling and evolving.

Faran: I will say it in two words…. Opposites attract!
