ARIFWALA: Cattle worth millions of rupees have been killed by dog bites in Bayal Ganj, a village of Arifwala, prompting villagers to protest over the incidents.

Due to a lack of official action, local residents have started fighting dogs with sticks.

As per details obtained by The Express Tribune, several dogs attacked and killed cattle, resulting in major financial losses for villagers.

The dogs were seen in the area for several days. During this time the district administration was also contacted but no one responded. Like other areas in the country, Arifwala also has a large number of stray dogs in different areas.

The villagers argue that when no officer visited them despite repeated complaints, they had no choice but to fight the attacking dogs, after which a pack disappeared temporarily from the area.

However, local residents still fear attacks by stray dogs. They fear that after cattle, these dogs may start attacking villagers as well. They demanded that the district administration take measures to eliminate stray dogs from the village.

Dog-bite cases have been reported in different cities across the province but no preventive measures have been adopted by the government. Reportedly, citizens are also worried about the unavailability of vaccines in hospitals.

Two days ago, more than 10 people were injured in incidents of dog bites in Okara.
