The controversy surrounding the Pakistan International Screen Awards (PISA) is making headlines, and seemingly for all the right reasons. A number of celebs have spoken out, after Bulbulay actor Nabeel Zafar first blew the whistle on the organiser’s mismanagement.

Adding to the list, actor/host Ali Safina penned a lengthy note detailing the unprofessional behavior from the organiser’s end, saying, “It seems that the overly excited, yet anonymous, organisers of this supposedly ‘huge show’ happening for the first time in Dubai have gone missing. Especially after using mine and other artist’s name for publicity that they nominated, invited, but never sent a ticket to.”

The star relayed his whole correspondence with the representatives of the show prior to the event, revealing how they were hesitant to divulge details of the travel after sending him the invite.

“I was asked to send in my documents for visa and travel. After my visa came back I noticed it was a ‘salesperson’ visa which is strange because I’m clearly an actor not a salesperson. A few days after, I was told to wait on for my travel details and to block out the dates 6th, 7th, 8th. I however didn’t hear back from the organisers or the PR agency with my travel itinerary despite inquiring,” he revealed.

Safina then went in, no holds barred, to call the organisers out for disrespecting, humiliating and burning bridges with nominated artists. “It seems like any Tom, Dick or Harry can organise an award show and all they need is a ticket and hotel stay to be there,” he said.

Kya aap logon n kabhi travel nahi kiya ya phir 5 star hotel mein rehne ka yehi ek mauqa miley ga? (Have you never travelled abroad? Is this the only opportunity to stay in a 5-star hotel?) If you don’t care about your own self worth at least don’t take the whole industry down with you,” said Safina, also slamming the artists that chose to attend the award show even after being aware of their fraudulent management.

“I am taking a stand since it’s an insult to the numerous artists that had given their commitment to attend but were never flown over,” he concluded.
