After a decade of decadence in the realm of fashion, ace couturier Fahad Hussayn has announced that he will be shutting down his brand owing to bankruptcy.

In a lengthy, heartfelt Instagram post, the designer paid homage to his ten long years in the industry, during which he admittedly failed to learn the ropes of sustaining a business model.

“For as long as I can remember, art and fashion is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life,” he captioned the post leading up to the announcement. “Spending more than a decade learning the crafts and building my brand to what I always  thought it should be, I completely failed to realise my biggest shortcoming – as an artist, I’ve struggles with business skills.”

Having launched his last opulent collection Labyagawachi just a few months prior, the announcement comes as a surprise – the designer even showed at a fashion week that wrapped up in December 2019. Now, his brand’s Instagram profile reads ‘closed for business’.

“I thought with time and resources, I could make my vision come to life on my own, but sadly, not everything works out the way you want. Maybe I don’t want to do business, I just want to keep on creating art,” wrote Hussayn.

Citing events that “did not turn out in our favour”, Hussayn finished that with a heavy heart, the brand would be “stepping down from business.”
