PESHAWAR: The government on Monday assigned the additional charge of the provincial health ministry to the finance minister.

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Mahmood Khan on Wednesday issued a notification which handed the K-P Finance Minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra the additional charge of the health portfolio.

A source in the cabinet said that with this move, the possible return of ousted health minister Shahram Khan Taraki to the provincial cabinet has been narrowed.

The source said the provincial government has issued the notification on a public holiday which shows the extent of the rifts between the two groups within the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

The source further said that soon the additional charge of the sports, tourism and archaeology will also be assigned to a sitting cabinet minister. On January 25, three ministers  had been booted from the cabinet.
