The United Nations General Assembly added the candidacy of South Sudan as the 193rd member state after it declared independence from Sudan on July 9. So far 88 countries have accorded recognition to the newest independent country.
In a message to the President of the Republic of South Sudan, the Prime Minister conveyed heartiest felicitations on behalf of the people and the government of Pakistan.
He expressed best wishes for success in nation building efforts as well as in socio-economic development of South Sudan.
The Prime Minister said Pakistan looked forward to working closely with the South Sudanese government both at bilateral and multilateral fora to advance shared objectives of peace, prosperity and development of peoples of both the countries.
South Sudan’s independence comes after more than 50 years of conflict between the southern rebels and successive Khartoum governments.
The 2005 Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) that finally ended the conflict, and which was signed under intense pressure from foreign countries, particularly the US, Britain and Norway, paved the way for a referendum on southern independence in January.
Around 99 per cent of southerners voted to split from the north.

@xohaib: What did you have? a gene transplant?
@KLA: We have recognised "Azad Kashmir" as part of India. Happy?
@xohaib: LOL. See you are confused about your identity. that's what I was pointing earlier.
@ Bangash......South Sudan is a validation of the Two-Nation theory on which Pakistan was founded. Indian Hindus still don’t like Muslims in India and oppose Pakistan’s existence....
Your comment qualifies as the dumbest remark on this forum. Its irrelevant to the subject at hand and indicates your ignorance of current issues as well as the history.
Take care of Pakistan before you start thinking about Kashmiris !!1
C'mon Shabbir....stop crying...I m a Baloch n I live in Balochistan n I really don't need any certificate from you for that...& mind you Balochistan's population is less than whole of Lahore...n in that population there r many Pathans who dont want Azad Balochistan...there is Hazara community who r patriots, there r Sindhis,Seraikis n Balochs like me who say Pakistan Zindabad...people like u r very rare working for RAW,CIA & Mossad...so get a drift
@Shabbir Baloch....I bet u to have refrendum in Balochistan n majority will b in favor of Pakistan...I m a Baloch n a Proud Pakistani...
@xohaib: tell me your ethinic background and which part of pakistan you belong? I will tell your clan's history. If you are an outsider then there is no need to claim the land isn't it?
@Bangash: "May God grant Kashmiris their freedom like South Sudan"
But........How many times you will call God. You call the God on even a trifling issues. Do remember that every one is same for God and God helps those who help themselves. And also remember that there are Billion of people who wish to God that Kashmir do not separate from India.
@ Arjit sharma, or may be its the opposite. You may have a history of slavery in your blood and you may be ok with it , but its not the same for us. In palestine if they stay silent ,then its ok, if they demand their rights, then they are not?
@Bangash: Don't worry about kashmir we will make it secular and economically developed one.
@Bangash: Lol. and you people get angry when you are called as separatist. First save your country then talk about the world.
Pakistan recognises south sudan. It shall very soon recognise our Homeland of Balochistan. Inshallah Very Very Soon.
I am a Kashmiri from India....we also want seperation. God willing, we will have our freedom one day and break away from clutches of terrorist Indian army
@Bangash: rora Why is this itch for how some humans live in India ... you are not from India so why be bothered about their issues .. What ever Kashmiris want or do shouldn't be our problem as its not going to solve our problems either ... This world will become a better place if we accept the fact that we live on a very small planet among billion of other stars .. and we are one and same race. All this unrest is man made due to political short term reasons. @Arijit Sharma: But yet you are strolling around virtually in a 'Muslim' place? Your comments shows how naive and contradictory they are.
Arjit Sherma and other Indian commentators has validated that Muslims are disliked in India. Worse off than Indian Muslims are Kashmiris who have been violently oppressed by Indian army for 60+ years.
May God grant Kashmiris their freedom like South Sudan.
If the Muslim countries condemned the Darfur Genocide and put pressure on Sudan yrs ago this split may not have been necessary. The tendency of Muslims to defend other Muslims regardless of the atrocity has diminished the Worldwide reputation of Muslims. Many regard this split as another example of the intolerance of Muslims for other faiths.
Arijit Sharma! People like you ignite the hatred and then expect something positive to happen. People if you have to post similar comments then please refrain from coming here.
Indian Muslims are loyal to the state and true patriotic-at least most of them[99%]
@bangsh Please stay in your cave.
@Bangash: " South Sudan is a validation of the Two-Nation theory on which Pakistan was founded. Indian Hindus still don’t like Muslims in India and oppose Pakistan’s existence. "
Another way to look at it - nobody wants to live with Muslims.
@bangash, who told you about india .come to india then you will understand about india's secular nature
@Bangash: First tell me, Indian muslims call you as separatist how will you respond to them?
It is unfortunate that differences between southern rebels and Khartoum could not end during 50 years paying the way for declaration of independence of South Sudan on July 9, 2011.
Similar differences occur between the states and within the states in many countries.
People talk a lot about “Conflict Resolutions” in the world but I think that there is no resolution of conflict when the reasons of conflict are based on principals.
Some of the similar conflicts are going on between Palestine and Israel over accepting Palestine as an independent state and between Pakistan and India over occupied Jammu and Kashmir which has also crossed more than 60 years.
Why not the world powers give a nod to accept Palestine as 194th member state and occupied Jammu and Kashmir as 195th member state in the world so that conflicts should be resolved once and for all.
Why so delay in sending greetings and recognition , does not want to dispaleasure Sudan and Bhasir? Pak always says chapion of Will of the people ( except Baluchistan), Be stright and honest, will improve Pak image, no spin in any situation. --PakiCritical

what about kashmir??????????????????
So why hasn't Pakistan recognised Kosovo yet when most of the world already has?!
