According to health professionals at SIUT, the hospital has hired surgeons who have experience of performing robotic surgeries for urological disorders and hence, following the installation of the new facility, they will be able to serve the people better. The modern 3D laparoscopic surgical facility would also reduce pain, loss of blood and risk of contracting infections during surgeries, besides expediting recovery.
Also speaking on the occasion, Bashir Dawood, a philanthropist who donated Rs450 million for the unit, lauded SIUT's doctors and paramedics for their dedication and excellence, and committed to donating another Rs1 billion for a children and cardiac wing at the hospital. He was later apprised about SIUT's operations and other details by SIUT director Dr Adib Rizvi.
The unit has been dedicated to the memory of late Kassim Parekh, a renowned banker and one of Dawood's family friends.
