The Argentinian polo-player told Good Morning America on Wednesday that he spoke to Prince Harry just a few days ago and that his friend is just trying to live a normal life with wife Meghan Markle.
“He has suffered a lot from all of the things that have happened to him. He suffers a lot from people judging him,” Figueras said of Prince Harry. "He's being a father ... a guy who is trying to protect his cub and his lioness from whatever it takes. He has become an incredible man, a man that his mother would be proud of."
Expanding on the expected motivation behind Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal shakeup, Figueras reveled, "He wants to live a normal life, as normal as his life is going to be, right? Because when you have 1,000 paparazzis outside your house in Canada waiting to get one picture of your son, that's not very, very normal."
Figueras spoke out ahead of the ABC's prime time special - Royal Divide: Harry, Meghan, and The Crown - which aired on Wednesday night.
Prince Harry 'sad' over his exit from the Royal family
American-born Viscountess Julie Montagu also appeared on GMA, admitting it was 'hard marrying into the British aristocracy' and sympathised with Markle's decision to exit the Royal family.
Montagu left her native Illinois and became known as Viscountess Hinchingbrooke when she married her husband Luke, who is in line to be the Earl of Sandwich, 20 years ago. Earl of Sandwich is a noble title in the Peerage of England, held since its creation by the House of Montagu.
"People commented she [Meghan] knew what she was getting into. I've got to be honest... you don't know until you're in it,' the former yoga instructor said. "I can attest to that - as an American we have been brought up from day one (being) told you can do whatever you want to do, you can be whatever you want to be."
