Queen Elizabeth has decided to bestow her grandson and future heir to the British throne, Prince William, with a new honour.

Needless to say, Twitter has a few things to say about it. The Queen's choice to give Prince William his new title a week after a final decision was made about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's future in the Royal family and the subsequent stripping of their HRH titles has divided people's opinions via social media, reported People.

On Saturday, it was announced that the Duke of Cambridge will take on the role of Lord High Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland.

This means, reportedly, that Prince William "will become the British monarch’s personal representative to the Church of Scotland, carrying out various official visits and ceremonial duties."

Prince William succeeds Richard Scott, the 10th Duke of Buccleuch and 12th Duke of Queensberry, in the role. Meanwhile, other Royal family members, including Princess Anne, Prince Charles, and Prince Edward have held the position.

On the surface, it appears to be just routine Royal business, but some on Twitter think the Queen's timing was slightly shady, as Harry and Meghan just stepped down from their official duties.

"Wow, she means business," wrote one Twitter user, adding, "Harry and Meghan are getting further out." Another commentator on the social media platform implied the Queen made her decision because, "William didn't quit."

However, some Royal fans maintained Prince William is deserving of another title now that Harry is gone and holds more responsibilities. "With Harry gone, William will have a lot more responsibility dumped onto him and his wife. So, he deserves another title," one user pointed out.

Despite no longer being a senior member of the monarchy, Prince Harry made it clear that he's not leaving behind the causes near and dear to his heart, nor the British people.

While speaking out about his and Meghan's Royal exit for the first time, Harry said, "What I want to make clear is we’re not walking away, and we certainly aren’t walking away from you. Our hope was to continue serving the Queen, the commonwealth, and my military associations, but without public funding.

He continued, "Unfortunately, that wasn’t possible. I’ve accepted this, knowing that it doesn’t change who I am or how committed I am." Now, back in Canada with Meghan and Archie, Harry doesn't seem to regret his decision.
