Deepika Padukone is well-known for her bold and elegant sartorial choices. Most recently, the Bollywood beauty sent fans into a frenzy and garnered international attention by showing up to the 26th Annual Crystal Awards in a purple Alex Perry gown, reported Vogue.

After flying out of Mumbai in a not-so-basic version of the classic trench coat (it's all about the sleeves after all), the Padmaavat star  rocked the awards ceremony taking place in Davos, Switzerland.

Part of the World Economic Forum, the 2020 Crystal Awards marked a big moment for Padukone, who received an award for her contribution to the field of mental health.

The 34-year-old donned the sculpted Alex Perry gown from the designer's spring/summer 2020 collection, which made a bold impact for its eye-catching violet hue and interesting detailing.

Along with a square neckline, Padukone’s striking gown also came with structured shoulders and cascading cape sleeves which instantly added some drama to her look. The fabric of her ensemble came together in an interesting knot at the waist too.

The body-hugging number perfectly complemented Padukone’s curves and was accessorised with nothing but a pair of chandelier earrings by Mahesh Notandass.

The Chhapaak star also knows how to balance things out and made sure her makeup and accessories did not overkill. Slicked down old-Hollywood waves, nude lips and a soft smokey eye in subtle brown shades tied the entire ensemble together beautifully.

And, of course, her superstar husband Ranveer Singh also couldn't get enough. Reacting to Padukone's Instagram share holding her Crystal Award, he wrote, "You make me so proud, baby."

Padukone has opened up about struggling with depression and anxiety in the past. When accepting the award on Monday, she recalled her own battles with the illness. "My love and hate relationship with this (mental health) has taught me a lot and I want to tell everyone suffering from this that you are not alone," she said. "One trillion dollars is the estimated impact of depression and mental illness on the world economy. In the time it has taken me to accept this award, the world has lost one more person to suicide."
