KARACHI: Two men carried out aerial firing at a birthday party in the presence of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf MPA Raja Azhar, Ibrahim Hyderi SHO Asim ur Rehman, former SHO Salahuddin and other officials, it emerged in a video that went viral on Monday.

The PTI MPA can be seen cutting a cake along with the current and former police officials in the video, while the hosts of the birthday party, Zeeshan Abro and Faisal Abro, were seen firing shots into the sky.

According to sources, an official submachine gun was also allegedly used for the celebratory gunfire, while police officials provided protocol to both the offenders during the activity.

After the video went viral on social media, the area police arrested Zeeshan and Faisal and registered a case against them. However, no police officials have been named in the FIR.

Malir SSP Ali Raza claimed that the aerial firing was not done in the presence of police officials. "SHOs were present at the party, but the firing was done much later," he maintained. The Abro brothers had been arrested and legal proceedings had been initiated against them, added SSP Raza.

Meanwhile, Sindh Inspector General of Police Dr Kaleem Imam has taken the notice of the incident and sought details from Malir SSP.  "The violation of the law is not acceptable under any circumstances," said the provincial police chief, ordering the submission of a report regarding the police investigation and progress in the matter, while ensuring all disciplinary and legal actions.
